Runway
 The
runway is equipped with the latest technology, meeting ICAO
international standards’ requirements. It was reconstructed in 1998 to
provide for the safe arrivals of comfortable modern airliners at the
Almaty airport.
The Almaty airport was awarded II-d category and
status of an International Airport after the runway was reconstructed
and approved.
A new signal light system produced by ABB was
installed at the Almaty airport in 1998. It provides aircrafts take
off, taxiing and landing and matches all ICAO requirements and norms
(on the meteorological minimum categories I and II). The airport’s
electricity supply system and all of its parts also meet all ICAO
requirements.
Runway dimensions: length – 4,400
meters, width – 60 meters New
runway (length – 4.500 m, width – 60 m) is to be put into operation
this year (2008) which will be supplied with the latest aeronautical
equipment and certified according to the international standards (ICAO
category III).
Particularly the airport will be
able to accept and launch aircraft within the field of visibility on
the runway till 200 m and more. |
