Fire Safety & Salvage Service
The main
task of Fire Safety & Salvage Service of Almaty International
Airport JSC is duly rendering assistance to Airlines’ aircraft at
emergencies.
The
personnel of fire-salvage teams totals more than a hundred
specialists, these are rescuers, firemen and fire-engine drivers.
There
is the advanced rescue and fire-prevention technics in the service
arsenal. These technics are of high dynamic qualities, equipped with
high-tech fire-technical equipment capable to provide a maximum
level of airfield fire protection according to ICAO requirements.
Special vehicles are capable to reach any point of the airfield for
3-4 minutes, bring in up to 60 tones of fire extinguishing means at
a time and are equipped with remote control, fire-pumps and monitors
from the driver’s cabin. Fighting vehicles of Fire Safety & Salvage
Service are capable to provide carbon-dioxide, water-foamy and
powder fire suppression.
Also,
the service is equipped with special rescue technics, providing all
kinds of salvage operations on emergency aircraft. These are creeper
wheel tractors, communication and lighting vehicles with stand-alone
generators, ladders.
The
rescue service station is located almost in a control point of the
airfield, where round-the-clock control of aircraft’s taking-off and
landing, moving of birds, fire-safety condition on the objects of
the airport from the watch-tower is carried out.
Following recovery equipment is to provide evacuation of immobilized
aircraft from the airfield:
- - recovery dollies;
- - recovery lift bag systems;
- - lifting slings for aircraft recovery;
- - aircraft emergency towing sets;
- - ground reinforcement mats.
