Ground Handling

The Almaty Airport provides services for aircrafts based in Almaty as well as for those in transit.

These include all standard services for

• Arrival – departure (landing – takeoff) service
• Provision of electrical power sources and air conditioning units
• Communication between the ground bridge and the cockpit of the aircraft: during the start up of engines, towing of the aircraft, etc.
• Towing of an aircraft
• Provision of equipment for landing, disembarking of passengers
• Provision of a bridge mechanism for loading and unloading of containers, pellets with loads and baggage including 6 metre containers
• Internal cleaning of cabins and external cleaning of the aircraft
• Cleaning of sanitary-sewer and water-operated systems of the aircraft
• Refuel of hydraulic and gas systems of the aircraft
• Heating of the cockpit and cabin of the aircraft
• Cleaning of the surface of an aircraft from frost, snow, and ice by means of heating machines and such de-icing liquids as Arctic and Kill Frost
• Efficient technical service of such aircraft types as Yakovlev 40, Antonov 24, Antonov 26, and Tupolev 134 in accordance with the certificate on ramp services # 0024-01 dated August 20, 2001 and issued by the Committee on Civil Aviation of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Almaty Airport has a full range of necessary equipment for the provision of ground service for any type of aircrafts, including the Boeing 747. Following available equipment is worth mentioning:

Re-loaders of Air Marel and Trepel type containers (including 20')

Carts for transportation of pallets and containers

Passenger stairs of various configurations

Refuel Equipment capable of refueling an aircraft within 40 minutes

Modern de-icing equipment, which ensures the flight safety, regardless of weather conditions

The Air Start UNIT MSU – 400 modernized equipment for the air start up, which is used for heavy aircrafts of the Boeing 747 type or similar

High power tractors ROFAH ZD 44F and Z 85 used for transportation of large 20 feet containers

Tractors for aircraft towing – SCHOPF F 396 CA

MITRAS Visibility Measuring instruments with the KRAMC – 4: software from the VAISALA OY Company

In 2001 the Almaty Airport acquired a highly effective snowplough from the Bucher Company that can clean the snow banks from the landing strip for 40-50 meters per side while driving 50 km/hour. In comparison with the previously used equipment, the new cars from Bucher Rolba 3000 allow for cleaning of the field in less than half the time. In addition, among the innovative equipment from Bucher, the cleaner BPP –R-17 C should be mentioned.

For the provision of these types of services for 24 hours per day the Platform Service Department is supplied with: engineers and technical specialists with certified qualifications; mechanical operators; and cleaning technicians equipped with electro-mechanical means and chemical fluids for cleaning and washing the aircrafts.
