Fuel and Lubricants

Owing to good and trustworthy connections with fuel suppliers and a sufficient number of reservoirs, we have completely eliminated the possibility for interruptions to the supply of fuel and restrictions for fueling at any season of the year without regard to the daily consumption norms. The quality of fuel offered at the Almaty Airport meets the international standards of British Standard and American Petroleum Institute, ensured by the filter installation from the Warner Lewis Company (USA). Today the Almaty Airport has a capacity for keeping approximately 30, 000 cubic meters of certified fuel permanently. A fuel terminal is considered one of the main parts of the airport’s infrastructure.

To ensure the high quality and safe storage of fuel, modern reservoirs are polished with a special anticorrosion surface that allows them to keep the fuel clean.

In order to ensure the quality of fuel, modern means of filtration and supply has been carried out at the lubricants department of the Almaty International Airport.

The refueling cars’ filters contain the Velcon Aquacon ACO 51301K (RC-22, RC-44) filter elements of the Warner Lewis Company - ensuring a qualitative filtration up to 1 micron (ACO 61401K (RC-60)) and decreasing the quantity of water in fuel in proportion to less than 15 grams of water per ton of fuel.

CT-500-2M FRP Filters of the lubricants stock installed with filter-separators of Velcon 1-6222 type ensure that the quality of filtration is up to 2 microns and decreases the volumes of water in fuel in proportion to less than 15 volumes of water per million volumes of fuel.

TF 10 FRP Filters contain the Velcon FO 513 PLF micro filter elements that ensure the qualitative filtration up to a half of a micron.

Distributing hoses from the Austrian firm Semperit are installed at the re-fueling cars and are supplied with tips from the Carter Ground Fueling firm. The latter is equipped with a net with a hundred cells per 1 square inch. Filter elements and distributing hoses meet the standards of British Standard and American Petroleum Institute. To determine the fractional structure of the lubricants, MP 626 equipment from Warner Instruments has been acquired.

In order to check liquid meters used in the fueling cars, check equipment from the Avery Hardoll firm has been provided by Air BP.

To calculate fuel during refueling of fueling cars, mass meters with +/- 0,1% error from the Fisher Rosemount firm are installed. In 2000 the reconstruction of the elevated rail way was carried out. Currently, the installation of an automated fire extinguishing system of the English firm “ANGUS” is being carried out. Maximum volume available for fuel saving is 30000 cubic meters. Refueling is carried out at the fueling cars: RC-60 cubic meters, RC-44 cubic meters, RC-22 cubic meters.
